Tribute to Henry Orvis Turner "Hank"

Henry OrvisTurner "Hank"

Hank, Mike Kelley (Last jam for Mike as he passed 4 months later), and Pat Mc.

Hank passed away early last week at his home in Tampa, Fl. Hank was a self made man, with what seemed to be a real hard childhood loosing his mom and dad at an early age. Several years ago Hank lost a sister to cancer and to my knowledge has one survifying sister here in Lakeland. I met Hank around the age of 13 years old, while he was living with the Goller family just off of South Fl. Ave. I know Hank had lived also with the Williams family over by Florida Southern College after his parents passed. Hank had told me stories about that time, and how much he loved Maxey and Keith and their parents for allowing him to live with them. Later Hank and Mike Kelley had a house out off Scott Lake, it is there that we started playing music much of the day and all night if possible. Hank could play most anything and had another great friend....his bodtailed cat named Gremlin. Hank moved up toward Macon to play with Keith Williams in their band Paradise Lost, somewhere along that route he also was an original member of the Johnny T. and the Fruit Jockeys with Jeff Calder, and Larry Berwald from Lakeland. We have had many of nights of playing music in the past 12 years, but after Mike Kelley passed away just a few years back, Hank told me that it just wasn't the same without Mike being with us at our jams. Hank wasn't always with us at our little jams after Mikes death, but would come and play when he felt like it. It was just a few week back that we played at Pat McCarthy's home for the last time! Thanks Hank for the friendship, fun and all the good times we shared.
